VALUE-DRIVEN PRICING

Billing by the hour is detrimental for both the client and the attorney: 

• It discourages efficiency.  When time equals money, there’s no incentive for attorneys to work efficiently. Why would you pay more for someone to take longer?
• It's unpredictable for clients.  Imagine purchasing any other service without knowing the cost upfront. You wouldn’t accept that in any other area of your life. Why should legal services be any different? An experienced professional is capable  of providing clear pricing before the work begins. Clients deserve the same transparency they get from any other service provider.
• It misaligns the interests of attorney and client.  Hourly billing rewards time spent, not success. Under this model, attorneys are paid the same—or more—whether or not your project succeeds. That’s a cost-plus system, and it’s not aligned with your goals.
• It's unrelated to results or value delivered.   Clients don’t hire attorneys for effort; they hire them for outcomes. You care about the result, the quality of service, and how it helps you achieve your goals—not the number of hours logged. Think of it this way: would you pay a mechanic based on the time they spent, or on their ability to fix your car and get you back on the road?  

At The Wortham Law Firm, we reject the traditional model used by big firms. Many large firms cling to the billable hour because they’re stuck in the past or are constrained by overhead expenses, like extravagant downtown offices with marble lobbies. That’s not how we operate.
